A research technician position is available in the Huen Lab at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The Huen lab studies metabolic pathways that promote survival and tissue protection during inflammation and tissue injury. We are looking for an enthusiastic and scientifically curious research technician to assist in ongoing animal studies, to help maintain the lab’s mouse colony, and to perform basic molecular biology techniques. The ideal candidate is motivated, organized, detail oriented, and can commit to working in the lab for 1-2 years.
Job Duties
-Participating in an ongoing research project in the laboratory through performing routine scientific research in molecular biology, physiology, metabolism, and other related fields.
-Set-up mouse breeding programs, mouse genotyping, and maintenance of mouse colony.
-General maintenance of the lab.
-Collecting and recording detailed research data
Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
