SMMA is seeking a recent architecture graduate or a 1 to 3-year experienced design professional to join our practice within our architecture discipline. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on some of the area’s largest and most cutting-edge new school commissions to be completed over the next several years, expressive commercial buildings shaping the Boston skyline, and many other projects — big and small — throughout SMMA’s diverse markets. Beyond working on interesting projects, the way we work is truly unique collaborating within the firm’s integrated design model: a dynamic mix of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, site and building systems engineers, design technologists, researchers, and planners.
As an entry-level design team member, you’ll be working among peers, expert architects and designers, and engineers within a collegial and collaborative setting. Since we strive for a healthy balance of seasoned experts, mid-level architects, and those just entering the profession, internal knowledge-sharing and learning by doing are top priorities. SMMA is committed to new digital-focused techniques, maker-inspired design exploration, computational design, and other progressive trends in academia and industry which are part of how SMMA operates today and into the future.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Professional degree; Master’s degree preferred
- 0-3 years professional experience, project work experience similar to SMMA’s portfolio preferred
- In pursuit of Architectural licensure; LEED, WELL, or other sustainable accreditations a plus
- Familiar with a BIM-centered workflow and other common and novel digital design and management tools
- Capable of building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Committed to pursuing excellence in written, visual, and verbal communication
- Flexible, proactive, and optimistic
