NV5’s Southern California Water/Wastewater Practice has an exciting opportunity for an assistant engineer. Our practice focuses on the planning and design of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure. We produce sustainable and innovative projects to provide safe drinking water and promote sustainable water resources through water recycling and indirect potable reuse.
An assistant engineer at our practice will:
- Work within a team of highly experienced and creative engineers to problem solve, analyze, and evaluate projects from planning through construction.
- Assist with the planning and design of challenging drinking water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure, including preparing Preliminary Engineering Reports, Plans, Specifications and Estimates for:
- Drinking water infrastructure: wells, storage tanks, pipelines, pump stations, pressure reducing stations, and water treatment facilities.
- Wastewater infrastructure: wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
- Recycled water infrastructure: storage tanks, pipelines, pump stations, and pressure reducing stations.
- Assist project engineers with other project tasks, such as:
- Analyzing and evaluating hydraulic calculations and hydraulic models.
- Performing research and field investigations.
- Analyzing and formulating technical documents and reports.
- Coordinate with other disciplines for project development, including geotechnical engineering, land surveying, electrical engineering, and structural engineering.
- Occasional field visits and inspections to assess infrastructure deficiencies, project progress, and problem solve issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and/or Master of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a concentration in water/wastewater
- Desire and interest in water/wastewater infrastructure design
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Innovyze InfoSewer/InfoWater, and ArcGIS
- Understanding of hydraulics and pipe networks
- Passionate about water/wastewater
