Julianna D’Urzo ’21 is a versatile media professional whose career spans broadcast journalism, digital strategy, and global commercial content. A proud graduate of the Broadcast and Digital Journalism master’s program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, she continues to give back to the school as a Newhouse Trailblazer Mentor.
Julianna’s industry experience is wide‑ranging and impact-driven. She played a pivotal role in the launch of CNN+, producing live and on‑demand programming as part of the Interview Club team. Her creative work extends across major global brands such as Pepsi, Sephora, Google, and the NHL, where she has delivered end‑to‑end commercial and branded content campaigns.
Originally from Toronto, she earned distinction in her undergraduate Media Production degree before completing her master’s at Syracuse University, where she has also taught as a Newhouse professor and supported student development across mentorship programs.
Now based in New York City, Julianna serves as a Producer at NewsNation, leading digital strategy and contributing to innovation in AI‑driven news production and major programming initiatives, including prime‑time shows and national town halls. She also previously served as Anchor Producer for Elizabeth Vargas Reports, managing daily live segments and high‑profile interviews.
Her professional contributions extend across the industry: she is an active member of New York Women in Communications and was selected as a judge for the 46th Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, recognizing excellence across the media landscape.

2026 Friday Keynote Speaker: Monica Williams, Chief Diversity Officer, Onondaga County STOP Bias, Embracing Cultural Humility, From Campus to Career

Monica Williams is an exemplary professional deeply committed to advancing diversity and inclusion within county government. With over a decade of experience in public service, she has made meaningful contributions to both local government and community advocacy.
She began her public service career in 2009 as a Legislator for Onondaga County, a role she held until 2019. During her tenure, she reviewed and approved the County Executive’s proposed budget, ensuring the diverse needs of constituents in the 16th District were effectively met. She also served on several key committees, including the Ways and Means Committee and the Public Safety Committee, demonstrating her ability to navigate complex governmental frameworks and drive positive outcomes for her community.
In 2016, Monica joined 1199 SEIU as an Administrative Organizer, where she represented union members in disciplinary proceedings, negotiated contracts, and developed comprehensive policies and procedures. This experience sharpened her skills in negotiation, policy development, and organizational leadership.
Since 2020, Monica has served as the Chief Diversity Officer for Onondaga County. In this role, she has spearheaded initiatives to enhance workforce diversity, developed and implemented strategic recruitment plans, and fostered a more inclusive work environment across county government. Her data-driven approach and strong communication strategies have been instrumental in raising awareness of diversity and inspiring meaningful, lasting change.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Monica is a dedicated community advocate and a role model for inclusive leadership in public service. She is known for her positive outlook, collaborative spirit, and her willingness to take on new challenges, qualities that continue to make a lasting impact on the people and communities she serves.
