On May 8th we’re teaming up with the Office of Alumni Engagement to host the Senior Celebration will be taking place 1-4pm at the Shaw Quadrangle with fun games, FREE food, giveaways, a DJ and much more. This event is open to all seniors, family and friends and it’s conveniently right after graduation rehearsal.
As an employee of this office for over three years and watching the preparation for this event for every one of those years, it is beyond surreal to finally be the one that can indulge. It’s bittersweet, and the true culmination of my college experience. This job has been the most stable thing I’ve had in college, and the experience that has taught me the most about problem solving. I also think this job has prepared me best for the field I’ll be going into, entertainment. As an assistant, I’ve learned a thing or two about the office coffee machine and answering emails. But I’ve also learned what it means to celebrate the expansion of an office and to appreciate new leadership. In my three years, we’ve hired five new full time staff members and five new student workers!
Being able to reflect on my achievements in college with the place I’ve accomplished so much is something I’m so grateful for. I encourage everyone to attend this event and celebrate with the people that have supported you through college, professionally or personally. Whether it’s a friend you made on the first night, or the people you met last week, this event is to commemorate all the experiences and people who have made college what it is for you. It’s also one of the last times you can take advantage of free food and merchandise in college…but I didn’t tell you that…
This event will also help you pave the way for your future with being able to ask questions to the Office of Alumni Engagement, which is quite a crazy idea that this office will soon be for us. Soon we will be able to utilize their career services and their network, and this is our transition point. It’s exciting, it’s scary, but it’s a smooth way to step into the next chapter of life.
Make sure to sign up for the event via this link and fill out the First Destination Survey (you may get some more freebies at the event if you show us proof of completing the survey…)
