A New Professional Portrait Experience

Most students dread the portrait experience. Whether it’s the awkward pose, your uncooperative hair, the random photographer, or all the above, it never seems to go quite the way it’s supposed to… And you’re usually too embarrassed to ask them to re-take it, left with something you don’t want to show, and forced to use your outdated high school photo.

Luckily, Syracuse University Career Services has come up with a solution. They opened a brand-new, modern photo booth that’s completely digital and self-service.

As an undergraduate student, I decided to take advantage of this right when it opened. I had the room to myself and felt very comfortable from the moment I stepped inside.

After I entered my Syracuse University email, the light turned on, evenly illuminating my face—no weird shadows.

Before setting the three or six second timer, I took some time to get ready. I fixed my hair, practiced my smile, and altered my position. Once I felt good, I set the timer and took three photos. I saw the results immediately and retook ones I didn’t feel great about.

The photos were emailed to me before I even left the room, and I finally had the perfect professional portrait just in time for application season. It was extremely easy to use and stress-free.

My favorite part is that I can keep coming back whenever I want to change it up!

And the results!!

The photo booth is located in the Career Services center on 111 Waverly Ave., Suite 230 and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., every Monday-Friday. There is no appointment necessary and you can drop-in as you please. You might want to check-in with the front desk when you arrive to make sure
